Professional Qualified Translators

Our translators are rigorously assessed and only the best are chosen.

ALT first conducts a thorough resume and work experience review before the translator is even considered for candidacy. Those with certification by the ATA (American Translators Association) (or equivalent foreign body) are given priority. We also conduct an assessment of the candidate’s equipment and software capabilities. Then, we conduct a phone interview and check at least two references (at least one must be based in the USA). In the process, the candidate completes a thorough questionnaire about their work habits and capabilities. On a monthly basis our Vendor Committee meets to discuss candidates. Only those who rank the highest following the assessment process are allowed to be entered in our database, but are marked to be given a pilot project, which is highly reviewed and critiqued. The translator is under close supervision of one of ALT’s trusted translation editors (the editor must have at least a solid 3 year track record with ALT). The translator will be maintained in our database beyond the pilot project if they meet the approval of the project editor.

ALT’s Vendor Committee Assessment Process:

• Conduct a thorough resume review

• Evaluate the potential translator’s work experience

• Those with certification by the ATA (American Translators Association) (or equivalent foreign body) are   given priority.

• A phone interview is conducted

• Assess candidate’s equipment and software capabilities

• Candidates who rank high following initial assessment are entered into our translator database and are   flagged to be offered a pilot project.

• During the pilot project, the translator is closely supervised by an approved ALT Translation Editor, who   has a minimum of three year’s experience with ALT.

• Following this pilot project the Vendor Committee evaluates the editor’s feedback and votes to retain the   translator.
